Sea waves, brake waters, floods, tsunami waves, coastal protection and seasonal rivers are all the possible subjects that can be investigated and optimized through numerical modeling, as well as terrain phenomena like dense flood or snow avalanches.
The software FLOW-3D can help you in simulate (with a realistic 3D, turbulent approach) several water conditions.
Users can directly import topographic files for their ground, complete it with any 3D cad geometry, and then quickly setup a wide range of hydraulics conditions, especially relating with waves conditions:
• linear waves
• Stokes 5th order waves
• solitary waves
• cnoidal waves
• random waves
These are just a simple example of all the water conditions that can be imposed to our simulated environment.
An additional multi-physics let users simulate also sediment scour phenomena, for studying and preventing water bed erosion. Sediments can be of multiple species (no limits in the sediment type number) interacting each other and with solid moving objects in fully coupled manner.
Simulation provides in output several quantities of interest for engineers:
• pressure and velocity field
• water elevation
• water depth
• Froude number
• depth averaged velocity
• near-bottom velocity
• total head
• vorticity and stagnation zones
• local shear stress
• sediments scour
• air entrained
To enforce the design stage, software IOSO Technology can be used to make optimization over the FLOW-3D simulation or other preliminary 1D-2D approaches.
IOSO will work in loop with your modeling tools, searching for very high extrema of performance for your design.
