Moving Objects Simulations

There is a high number of real industrial applications which involves objects that are moving either with a prescribed motion or a motion coupled with the fluid. Think for example about a wind rotor that moves under action of air, or a floating body subjected to several water conditions, or again to the ladle of hot liquid metal that pours it into the casting machine and a piston that press it into the die.
These are just a brief showcase of possible industrial processes where the motion of one or more element interact in a relevant matter with the surrounding fluid that, similarly, is displaced and exercises a set of forces on the environment.

FLOW-3D simulation software is the best tool to represent in a virtual environment multiple solid objects moving and interacting eachother without any limitation and through high calculation efficiency.
Thanks to the FAVORTM algorithm, the computational mesh is quickly drawn by creating boxes around complex shapes; no need to follow the contour of the solid obstacle, to mesh it. The motion of the object then is solved through a "fixed-mesh" approach, that guarantees for a very high flexibility of the physical models and a fast calculation with a very light overwork when moving objects are introduced in a simulation.

FLOW-3D simulations provide in output several quantities of interest related to the moving objects:
    • pressure and velocity field of the fluid in every cell location at every time-frame
    • forces and torques generated by the fluid on the solid objects
    • control forces and torques
    • gravity center dynamics
    • collision detection

Particulary rich is the multi-physics contained in the software, where the moving object module can be coupled with: heat-transfer, mass sources, time-dependent boundaries, wave generators, particle dynamics, etc.

Nowadays, to get into the market with the highest quality level product as possible, it is often used to perform an optimization study of the own moving machine.
To search for very extremum performance in a very quick way, XC Engineering suggests to try the software IOSO Technology (by SigmaTechnology).
IOSO will work in loop with your actual modeling tools, no needs of buying other simulation tools, using a new optimization "push-button" technology, that adopt a Self-Organization Strategy making use of up to 7 different well-known optimization methods (gradients, genetic, neural network, search region,...) simultaneously, and adapting every convergence parameter runtime.
