Several environmental conditions, applied to the oil and gas industry, can be nowadays reproduced virtually through the use of simulation software: oil sloshing in tanks, water-oil separators, or underwater gravity flows are just simple examples of what can be investigated through modern CAE tools.
Any process can be subjected to the analysis of some simulation or optimization tool.
XC Engineering proposes two different software that can be used at this stage: FLOW-3D and IOSO.
FLOW-3D is a fluid-dynamic simulation tool that makes able to reproduce virtually the working condition of any design or geological condition, even very complex, and displaying as output the dynamic of the process, phase tracking or charactheristic times. This in a fully 3D environment.
Users can directly import topographic files, complete it with any 3D cad geometry, and then quickly setup a wide range of hydraulics conditions.
An additional multi-physics let users simulate also sediment scour phenomena, for studying and preventing water bed erosion. Sediments can be of multiple species (no limits in the sediment type number) interacting each other and with solid moving objects in fully coupled manner.
Simulation provides in output several quantities of interest for engineers:
• pressure and velocity field of the liquids
• water and oil quantities
• accurate phase tracking
• vorticity and stagnation zones
• sediments scour
• air entrained
To enforce the design stage, software IOSO Technology can be used to make optimization over the FLOW-3D simulation or any other preliminary 1D-2D approaches.
IOSO will work in loop with your actual modeling tools, no needs of buying other simulation tools, using a new optimization "push-button" technology, that adopt a Self-Organization Strategy making use of up to 7 different well-known optimization methods (gradients, genetic, neural network, search region,...) simultaneously, and adapting runtime every convergence parameter.
